Program Description

Do you enjoy working with technology? Are you thinking about a training program that can help you land a high-paying, high-placement job? Are you interested in keeping people and information technology systems safe from hackers and other threats?

A degree in Cyber Defense from Hennepin Tech prepares students to enter the workforce with the tools they need to keep IT systems secure. As a National Security Administration Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, Hennepin Tech prepares students to become leaders in their field.

Courses cover topics such as monitoring systems, responding to incidents, and testing for weaknesses. Students train hands-on in areas like encryption, forensics, ethical hacking, software development, network administration, and designing secure systems.

Graduates work in many cybersecurity fields including, information security analyst, network security technician, firewall security technician, and cyber vulnerability analyst.

In general, the Information Technology program is designed to accept students at any level of computer familiarity. Initial placement testing will help best identify what courses students coming into the program should start with. Please see your enrollment counselor for assessment exemptions.
