Hennepin Tech grad earns cybersecurity scholarship
Brooklyn Park, May 31, 2023 – A recent graduate from Hennepin Technical College, Lecas Yang, earned a $3,000 scholarship to continue his cybersecurity education. The Upper Midwest Security Alliance Foundation (UMSA Foundation) provided the award. It is an organization that supports education for cybersecurity professionals.

I am dedicated to maintaining high academic standards, contributing to the cybersecurity community, and making a positive impact on the world. Your support inspires me to work even harder to achieve my goals, and I am truly thankful for this life-changing opportunity,” said Yang.
Yang (seen in the photo on the right) received the scholarship while he was a student at Hennepin Tech and he graduated with an associate degree in May. He will attend Metro State where he plans to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in cybersecurity.
Yang was recognized at the UMSA spring security conference with 700 industry professionals in attendance.The UMSA Foundation awarded a dozen scholarships based on academic achievements, extra-curricular activities and determination.
