Hennepin Tech ranks as Top 100 Degree Producer for students of color
Brooklyn Park, Feb. 16, 2023 – Hennepin Technical College ranks among the Top 100 in the nation for conferring associate degrees to students of color in engineering technologies and engineering related fields, according to the publication, “Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.” The college ranks 24th overall after an analysis of data, according to the publication.
Hennepin Tech has consistently appeared on the list in recent years and this new ranking describes graduation rates among students of color in the 2020-2021 academic year.
For specific minority groups, Hennepin Tech also earned high rankings for the number of degrees it confers to minority graduates in engineering technologies and related fields. The college ranks fourth in the nation for Asian graduates and 11th for African American graduates.
With 46% of students identifying as students of color, Hennepin Tech is one of the most diverse college campuses in Minnesota. Students may select from several programs in engineering technologies and related fields, including:
- Automation Robotics Engineering Technology
- Engineering CAD Technology
- Fluid Power Engineering and Motion Control
- Plastics Engineering Technology
“Diverse: Issues in Higher Education” annual Diverse Top 100 List provides data on colleges and universities nationwide. It uses analysis of preliminary 2020-21 data in the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) from the National Center for Statistics at the U.S. Department of Education.
