Minnesota State Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Teaching Recipients Announced

The Minnesota State Board of Trustees has announced the recipients of the Award for Excellence in Teaching. Paul Howlett, Hennepin Technical College Graphic Design faculty, has been named an Outstanding Educator for 2024.
The Board of Trustees reports, “The Board of Trustees Awards for Excellence acknowledge and provide system-wide recognition for consistently superior commitment to student learning and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence at the colleges and universities of Minnesota State.”
Lina Sadeddin, Paul’s colleague and Hennepin Tech Alumni, nominated him for the award. In her nomination she spoke about Paul’s dedication to the industry and for students. “He is passionate about teaching Graphic Design, and his goal is to get students to learn and grow. Paul is engaged with students and things happening at HTC like student senate meetings and connecting with other clubs at HTC and supporting them.” A local news outlet, CCX-Media, visited campus in January to cover the nomination.

Paul has worked in the graphic design industry for over 30 years, for over 25 of those years he has taught graphic design principles to students in technical college settings. He joins a prestigious list of educators from Hennepin Tech dating back to 2007, including 23 recipients of the Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Teaching and four Educator of the Year recipients.
