Student Life
Join a club or organization, attend events and activities on campus, work on campus, study on campus, and get to know people in your classes. Opportunities outside of the classroom provide ways to enhance academic growth, develop leadership skills, meet other students, or just have fun. Studies show that the most successful students and those who enjoy their educational experience are the students that get involved!
Student Senate
The Student Senate is responsible for coordinating student activities on the campus. Recommendations for improving the educational and social aspects of campus life may be submitted through the Student Senate. Each program is encouraged to have representatives participate in Student Senate. All meetings are open to everyone.
Student Life Board
The Student Life Board consists of students and staff members from the college to aid in the support of student clubs and organizations, activities and events on campus. The campus Student Senate selects the student members of the committee. Upon receiving requests, the Student Life Board is responsible for disbursing student life fees to campus organizations for their activities.
Student Clubs and Organizations
A number of student clubs and organizations are available. Students are encouraged to participate in these activities to enhance professional and career development. Talk with your instructors about student clubs and organizations available in your program or the Director of Student Life for additional opportunities.
SkillsUSA
SkillsUSA provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. SkillsUSA programs include local, state, and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills.
Phi Theta Kappa
Students earning a 3.5 cumulative GPA and successfully completing 12 college-level credits in an A.A.S. or an A.A. degree at Hennepin Tech are eligible to join the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa. Eligible students will receive an Invitation. Students should keep their contact information up to date in eServices so they may be invited to accept membership. New members are recognized with a membership pin and certificate, and be honored at an induction ceremony held once per year. After induction, students must maintain a 3.25 GPA to remain in the honor society. A notation of membership will appear on a graduate's transcript and diploma. A stole will be provided to wear at graduation denoting Phi Theta Kappa membership.
